CZERNYS: FINE ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOUR, JUNE 9th

As typical, Czernys June 9th  sale of arms and armour includes some of the most sumptuously decorative and historically important lots to be offered to collectors this year. Pictured is a fabulous  Ottoman 19th C agate hilted and silver mounted Kandshar dagger. Other significant edged weapons in the sale include a Russian award sword with Japanese blade from the Russo-Japanese conflict in 1905, a gold hilted Kard with rubies, emeralds and diamonds, a superb and early Pata gauntlet sword with extensive gold decoration, and Austrian silver mounted "luxury" sabre with blue and gilt blade and a late 17th C. basket hilted Polish sabre.

Among the firearms offered is a highly decorative flintlock rifle from the estate of Baron Von Beulwitz with a 1663 dated barrel. Among the other fine guns in the sale is a beautiful German 17th C Tschinke with extensive inlay, an important work of art.  Fine pairs of pistols will also be crossing the block, with wheellock, snaphaunce, flintlock  percussion and breech loading examples to choose from. Other lost of interest in the sale include an early European fighting shield dating between the 11th and 14th centuries, a fully equipped WWII period battle Jeep and a highly unusual flintlock pistol with integral lantern, ancipating the laser sight!




ANTIVITY PRAHA, ANTIQUES, ARMS AND ARMOUR, JUNE 9th

Antikvity Praha’s next auction includes over 100 lots of arms & armor in addition to fine art and antiques. Among the firearms in the sale is a scarce Winchester model 1866 in .44 Russian. Other fine guns include a superb double barreled French flintlock shotgun by Rougier Chometton in St Etienne, C 1800. This gun is chased and decorated in gold with silver inlay to the stock. A very unusual and rare rifle offered, is the over and under rifle by Adam Kuchenreuter. It has with back action locks and silver inlaid barrel. There is a good selection of revolvers, both European and American in the sale with some cased examples.

Fine swords in the sale include a Russian model 1764/75 broadsword with brass baskethilt, a Hungarian officials silver mounted sabre, several 17th C rapiers as well as backswords and later light cavalry sabers. Asain arms in the sale incldue a selection  of fien katana's wakizashi's and polearms as well as tsuba's and a Chinese Ming dysnasty helmet and several armours.



LANDSHUTER RÜSTKAMMER: THE COLLECTION OF LUTZ FRITSCHE, JUNE 16TH

Landshuter Rüstkammer’s  next sale includes three separate sections one being the  collection of Lutz Fritsche focusing on German Saxon orders and  decorations from the 19th and 20th century’s. The sale also incldues , imperial German orders and WWII  flags, banners and orders. Pictured is a rare and fine helmet for and aide-de-camp of William Ernest, Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. It carries a minimum bid of 9500 Euro.

Also in the sale is a wide selection of medals, orders, and miniatures as well as headgear, uniforms, honor goblets, badges of rank, bayonets, swords and WWII ephemera.
 

 




AUCTIONS IMPERIAL, FINE ANTIQUE ARMS AND ARMOR MAY 19TH

Auctions Imperial are the premiere source for Persian, Indo-Persian, ethnographic arms and related arms in the US. Their sale in late May includes many spectacular arms from these categories as well as some early European arms and amour of note. Pictured is a fine Russian imperial presentation shamshir given by Tsar Nikolai II to general Nikolai. Baratov in 1916.  Also among the edged weapons offered are an unusual double edged Persian shamshir of the Zand Dynasty, a  fine Indian khanda, a Greek revolutionary period shamshir  and a Hungarian hussar sabre.

In addition to swords the auction includes a German black and white armour, a Caucasian migulet pistol, an Ottoman Cicak helmet and two 5th century B.C. Greek bronze Chalcidian helmets. Further amour includes several Kulah Khud helmets and matching shields, European helmets of the 16th and 17th centuries and Indian mail and plate armour.

Indian and Persian  rock crystal and jade hilted daggers are among the smaller edged weapons offered as well as maces, cartridge cases, and associated accoutrements. Click on the image for a link to the sale.
